As a child I was taught that :-

"There are only two types of people in the World . The Contributors and the Non Contributors."

For years the Contributive Society has given the Appelbe North London Piano Prize.

More than just a monetary prize, it aims to add extra value through contacts, introductions, advice and even sponsorship.

Young musicians need platforms, particularly in these tough, competitive, and financially constrained days.

Sponsor a Prize: give a small supper party and invite (and pay) a young musician. Learn about their world; embrace their talent.

This will produce a multiplier effect benefitting the musician, bringing enjoyment to you and your friends and perpetuating the artistic talent of Great Britain.

Like me, you may have the thrill of realising that one of your prize winners becomes the star at a world class concert.
